October 12 - Information Session for CRS Taxpayers
This workshop for small business owners covers the basic taxes, proper recordkeeping and how to file reports properly to avoid penalties. Topics include explanations of Gross Receipts Tax (GRT), compensating tax, state withholding tax, specialty taxes, the CRS Filer?s Kit and proper use of Nontaxable Transaction Certificates (NTTC).

October 14 - Basic Bookkeeping for Artists
In this workshop you will learn the key bookkeeping concepts and terminology, the 2 principal financial statements and how they are related, a simple single entry bookkeeping method and basic bookkeeping rules and processes. This workshop addresses specific issues important to artists Instructor is Ida Carrillo.
October 19 - Government Contracting 101
In this fast-paced, informative and enjoyable workshop, business owners are introduced to government contracting. Topics include: Does the government purchase my particular product or service? What do I need to do to get started in government marketing? What are the federal certifications? How will being certified help my business? Am I ?contract ready?? What resources are available to help me? How do I market my product/service to the government?
During the roundtable discussion, an informal question and answer session will be facilitated by Wendy Ederer and Elaine Palin. Instructor: Wendy Ederer, Program Manager, NM Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP). As Program Manager, Wendy provides leadership to seven procurement advisors who are located throughout the state in the New Mexico Small Business Development Center Network.

October 21st - Understanding Financial Statements
This workshop will cover the meaning of the four main financial statements: (1) balance sheet; (2) income statement; (3) cash flow statement; and (4) statement of shareholders equity. Attendees should have a basic understanding and familiarity with the financial statements. Topics include the meaning and interpretation of each statement, ratio analysis and financial forecasting. This workshop will focus on gathering the necessary market data and its practical uses to make your business a success. The custom market research process will be covered in depth, using the Web and other free or low-cost resources that will result in data that can be used for such activities as: competition analysis, business development, prioritization of potential customer sectors, whether or not to launch a new product, or to find new customers.
